    "Very good, but some papers still cause problems."

    Pros

    I never have much difficulty with VueScan with my Epson 3170 scanner. The instructions are very clear and if I have difficulty understanding, it will show me how to do what I want to do.

    Cons

    With my failing eyesight, I scan instructions for equipment that I buy (OCR) but the paper from China which is very thin and very cheap (IMO) that it can not be scanned very well. I scan as a b/w, text doc but it comes out just a smear of grey/black

    Summary

    Over all this is a great product since the original software was OS 9 and early OS X but stopped working several versions ago particularly with the OCR software that came with it. I checked both web sites, Epson and ABBYY® for updates but it appears to have been abandoned. I still love it's functionality and versatility. Especially when I use the VueScan software. It makes a no brainer wonderful combination.
