"I can finally set the volume on Windows 7!"

    March 17, 2013  |   By fred_66f

This program allows me to set the volume on Windows 7 to a reasonable level. Windows 7 is to loud when using USB speakers. You can try to adjust using the Mixer, but the Adobe Flash volume always resets when using Firefox or Google Chrome. You end up with videos that blast you with volume every time. The command I use for low volume is "nircmd.exe setsysvolume 75".

The low volume setting is lost when you adjust the volume using the Windows volume control. You might want to add an icon to your desktop to get it back.

To set your volume to a low level, create a batch file in the directory where you put NirCmd called "LowVolume.bat". The volume can be set from 0 to 65535, but anything around 50 or under seems to be the same as zero. The command I use is "nircmd.exe setsysvolume 75". You can then put a shortcut to this batch file in your Startup folder in the Start menu so that it runs every time you boot up.
