--Easy to install

--lots of options
NOT compatible beyond windows XP? I'm still on winXP, but one day when I move on to Windows 7 or the like, it looks like I'll have to part ways with this app. If a screenshot app is supposed to do more, this probably doesn't do any of that.
--capturing the whole screen, active window, use selection window to select aarea, or predefined area.
--save in various file formats such as TIFF, BMP, PNG, or JPG
--choose to save in one directory, or you can specify where
--choose a filename, or just use a generic convention like imagexxx or with date as well
--can also save to printer, but I don't use any of that
