    "Worth upgrading to-"

    June 19, 2012  |   By andreaborman

    Pros

Much more stable than Windows 8 Consumer preview-no crashes as yet. Although Windows 8 Consumer preview was stable for a Beta version,Windows 8 release preview is more stable.also more choice of colors for your start screen, now you have pastel pink, pastel blue, and also the dark colors, the reds, the purples are brighter and more vibrant in this version. All of the software from Windows XP,Windows Vista and Windows 7 works in this version as it did in previous versions of Windows 8.

    Cons

You cannot disable the Metro theme like you could in developers preview but you can get the start button and Windows 7/XP start menu by installing third party software like Classic Shell or Start Menu 7.

    Summary

If you have used Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you will be familer with this version, more stable and more choice of colors for the Metro start screen. Also you can re enable the start button and Windows 7 start menu by installing third party software like Classic Shell,Vista Start menu,Start Menu 7 and others. All of which work in this version-windows 8 Release Preview. This is the RC version of Windows 8,so we are close to the final release now. And there is more new features so it is worth upgrading to Windows 8 RP if you are still on Windows 8 CP.Andrea Borman.

    Updated on Jun 19, 2012

Windows 8 release preview is perfect for running all of your Windows XP,vista and Windows 7 software, also windows 95 games works on Windows 8. And DON'T take any notice of some of the misleading posts on the web that say that start menu software to re enable the Windows 7 start menu and start button does not work on Windows 8 Release Preview,IT DOES. And I have installed Classic Shell on this version of Windows 8 RP and it does work on Windows 8 RP. Andrea Borman.
