"Cleans up the mess left by uninstalled programs"

    March 6, 2013  |   By GrahamSivill

Once you have the settings configured to your preferences this is a one click clean up that removes the day to day detritus that slows Windows PCs down, returning your PC to its former speed and recovers loads of disk space (particularly important if like me you have an SSD as your main O/S drive where free space keeps performance up).

    It works with Windows 8.
    It's fast.
It safely stores any areas of the registry as .reg files before it makes the changes so that if it does mess any programs up inadvertently, you can quickly put back the changes and get back to how you were before any changes were made. I have been running CCleaner for years and have never needed to use this "undo" facility.

It also has a nice interface for removing add-ons in browsers, start up items and other pesky things that all contribute to the slowdown of your once mega fast PC.

There is also a nice drive wiper that can clear empty space on your drives to obliterate any confidential data.

Its default settings need to be looked at before you run it, as it may want to remove some things that I personally wouldn't want it to such as browser history. It only takes a few minutes to work through the settings and untick the options that you don't want it to do, but knowing what things to untick may require a bit more technical knowledge than an average user has. That said, even if you didn't untick anything, nothing it does will stop your PC from working, it just might annoy you that it has removed your browser history when you need to get back to that page that you just can't remember the URL for.

I would recommend this application, it works well, keeps your PC tidy of files and registry entries that are no longer needed and helps identify start up items and browser add-ons that you may not be aware of that are slowing your PC down.
