"Best temp caches cleaner, decent registry cleaner"

    August 16, 2012  |   By ex_elec_tech

This free program has been my mainstay for keeping all my temporary files directories unclogged and making my browsers and other applications work fast. And it does the job excellently.

One can tailor which directories it will deal with, and exclude cookies that one wants to keep, like those cookies that have site passwords.

The decent registry cleaner has an option to backup the registry before cleaning it, which I always have on as I've never trusted any registry cleaner to not delete something necessary. But CCleaner has never ever messed up in this regard.

The registry cleaner may not get absolutely everything, but I think it errs on the side of safety. Not entirely sure, but I don't think it has a registry compaction option.

On my XP, I use this program mostly for keeping my caches clear of all those leftover temporary files and for clearing usage tracks. It's the first thing I do when my browser gets slow, and I use it generally every week if not more. I couldn't get along without it.

Although its registry cleaner is useful and seems really safe, for that I myself use a couple other programs more than this one. But I would recommend its registry cleaner as a basic and fairly safe model for anyone who doesn't know much about what those items are that it's going to delete from one's registry.
