"Always one of the top 3 paid AV products, consistently"

    May 3, 2010  |   By dfichtner

    Pros

Does a very good job of protecting your computer. Haven't had damage from "false positives" in the 1 1/2 years we've used it on one machine. Does a good job of scanning USB keys. Immediately cuts off a site that has malware problems. Updates often.

    Cons

The firewall is horrible. If we buy Kaspersky again, we'll pass on Internet Security just to avoid the firewall. It's very confusing to use. A shame such a great overall product is hampered by its dismal firewall.

    Summary

Most of the interface is very nice, except for firewall. Plays well with Windows on our Vista 64-bit machine.

We actually had to downgrade to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 because the "new and improved" KIS 2010 firewall was completely incompatible with our bank's security software.

KIS 2010 does slow your machine down a smidge more than some other anti-viruses out there -- not much. Excellent protection, though. If someone wants the strength of a full paid anti-virus security suite, I tell them to consider Kaspersky as one of the top two they should consider. A shame about the firewall, though!
