"If you use AOL, do not use this new version"

    September 17, 2003  |

Microsoft stupidly removed an important and useful option in this new 5.0 version.
I am talking about the option in the "Buttons" tab called:
    "Enable program-specific buttons settings"
In the previous version 4.1, a user could customize their mouse buttons to work as they wish with different programs.
I use AOL, and with the previous version of this program I assigned the AOL program in the "Enable program-specific buttons settings" so that I could use the "Forward" and "Back" buttons of my Microsoft Explorer Mouse. Without this specific settings, I could not use these two buttons in AOL.
Now in this new 5.0 version, it is impossible to assign any special programs, like AOL, and therefore a user CANNOT use their Back and Forward buttons.
I don't know why Microsoft removed this useful option, but I hope they will bring it back in their next release of IntelliPoint.
