"the Track Changes Feature is NOT what it is for PC"
Please!!! cut, paste, pass this review on. Help save thousands of people heart ache and frustration! Then... if Microsoft sees that the word is out about their product -- maybe they will respond before all of us going to MAC instead of PC finally ditch them because they refuse to address major problems with this product. AND... they mis lead the buyer into thinking their product works with MAC when it doesn't.
Track changes are not recorded in Time Machine
Will make the program unstable if used in a document for more than 6 or 7 lines!!
Microsoft office does not take advantage of the Lion Operating system that backs up your data every ten minutes.
I am an author and loyal -- LOYAL Microsoft Word user. So loyal, that when I purchased my first MAC two years ago, it was under the condition that I could use your program.
While Apple has since added their track changes feature to Pages to try and compete, nothing matches Microsoft Office Word.
However, it has been 2 years of frustration and heart ache and I have learned all the small print details about Microsoft Office that make it completely unworkable for MAC.
First... any author's concern is in loosing her work. the Lion operating system has the ability to save your work every ten minutes-- but only if you are using an Apple product..
Microsoft, however, has NOT taken advantage of this feature. Thus, when Microsoft Word freezes -- as it frequently does, all of your work is lost. If the computer completely shuts down, what you have done in the last ten minutes can be found -- but in a hidden place by pressing GO and library and going go Auto Recovery there. No one knows this. The people at Apple dont know this and so they so into preference and try to set you up a new auto recovery file there which only messes things up even more.
2. The track Changes feature does not work in MAC the way it works on my desk top PC. Microsoft misleads the customer by not telling them this. In short, if you ask Microsoft they will tell you, track changes should only be sued for about 6 lines total! After a year of frustration, I found out that whatever is done in track changes is held in a temporary state -- unrecognizable by Time Machine. Over and over time machine will try. but then, eventually, your MAC will freeze and all of what you have written is now lost. Please cut and paste this and pass it on! I'd like to help as many people as possible understand the frustration that lies ahead of them with this product if you are an author, using track changes -- or NOT ( I finally gave up on using the feature I loved most) and if you spend hours on a document -- with no hope of recovering it when it is lost.
FYI, the best back up is Drop Box as Carbonite will only save a document AFTER you close it. THEN.. you can only retrieve it after 24 hours!
