    "Efficient, sensible, open-access office program."

    October 25, 2010  |   By markomdmph

Efficient, standards-compliant, open-access office program. It cost not a penny. Even the updates are free.

Not every function is fully compatible with MS Office.

As a twenty-five year Macintosh fan-boy, I tremendously appreciate having OpenOffice in my armamentarium, along with Apple's own iWork. For professional reasons, I need to keep a copy of MS Office on my MacBook Pro, but only consider Excel to be significantly superior to its competitors. OpenOffice is more fully-featured than iWork, and I enjoy using it for larger projects. It's free. The upgrades are free. and using it supports the freeware cause. iWork is simpler and KeyNote is the best presentation software yet. If I didn't need an up-to-date version of Excel, I would not bother with MS Office.
