    "Still one of the best."

    Pros

    Seems to play most everything.

    Cons

    1/ Requires a larger amount of PC memory than some newer products.
    2/ Ugly user interface. What does that pylon actually represent?
    3/ Few to no extended features like sub-titles, etc.

    Summary

    After years of using mainly VLC I switched to others like UMPlayer and Media Player Classic that required a fraction of the memory. After running into file format incompatibility issues I went back to VLC recently and the problems have thus far not returned.
