"I found this program to be a big disappointment"

    November 10, 2011  |   By TWB404

    Pros

I was able to uninstall it. All I wanted was just a firewall and got a whole lot of junk included with it.

    Cons

The install of the program should have been a warning. They did not offer a custom install and included Geek Buddy with the install and I did not want that. They also do not give you an option to change the install destination folder. After I rebooted I found that it had a monitoring program and was trying to decide for me what programs where going to be allowed to run on my puter. Constant pop ups telling me that a program was trying to load. Worst part about that was even tho I told it to remember that I wanted the program to run it kept coming back and asking. That part is a really bad imitation of ZoneAlarm OS firewall. Total failure and very annoying. The firewall was even worst. I could never find a way to put the firewall in manual mode so I could decide what could come into and get out of my puter. To make that even worst they had a white list of over 15,0000 programs THEY decided was safe. That is always a bad sign when they make it so only they make the decision.

    Summary

Never trust a company or a firewall that install more then what you want without asking. Never trust a firewall that decides for you what is going to be allowed in or what gets out of your puter. If they had provided a clearer method of editing the white list and a method of putting the firewall in a manual mode would have been a good thing.

Let me respond to someone advice to check Matousec to see how good Comodo is. They rate Comaodo Internet Suite not the plain firewall. The other thing you should know is that if you click to buy from that site they get a fee for recommending the program and you buying it. There is no pure firewall review site on the internet. That alone should make you suspect of the review. The second thing is that I invite someone to write a review and explain how to put the firewall in the manual mode so you can choose which programs get into and out of your puter. You would not allow a home security company decide who gets into and out of your house. Of course not. Then why would you let a firewall company decide what gets into and out of your puter. The reason so many of these so called free firewalls are going this route is that the true money is letting corporations get into and out of your puter to spy on your usage and web surfing habits. If a firewall uses the cloud to make decisions run away

This new version of Comodo does for me!

DO NOT BELIEVE THIS REVIEW IT IS NOT TRUE!

COMODO is the best Firewall, There is an option so if you do not want Geekbuddy you do not have to install Geekbuddy.

This new version of Comodo does not give you the option to opt out of installing Geekbuddy. You have to install it along with CIS or CFW and then uninstall it afterwards. Thats why I call it add-ware. Danny_exon(who is a new Member with Zero previous reviews) should call yourself Danny_Comodo as you sound very like a Comodo employee who does not Like the fact that Comodo AV is at bottom of the class when it comes to repairing system damage done by a virus. Comodo is nothing without its Firewall. Even its firewall is becoming troublesome bloatware. Private firewall is now like the way Comodo used to be i.e. pure simple effective and trully free-free with no catches.

@ SPACEIS: Sorry, but TWB404 is correct. I've used Comodo for years with no problems, and I decided to reinstall it to solve a problem. After seeing GEEKBUDDY mentioned in some reviews, I read the user agreement- and here's a few excerpts:

    Section 2.4 GEEKBUDDY Services (iii)

"You authorize Comodo to access your computers and delete the files that Comodo deems unnecessary to your computer's operation. You grant Comodo express permission to alter the registry of any computer using GEEKBUDDY and to install, configure and use additional software on your computers as Comodo sees fit."

    It gets BETTER...

    Section 2.4 GEEKBUDDY Services (iv)

"You shall assist Comodo as reasonably requested by Comodo in diagnosing problems with computers using GEEKBUDDY. Your failure to cooperate with the Comodo representative constitutes a breach of this agreement. The Comodo representative has sole discretion over any instructions and steps taken in providing the GEEKBUDDY services."

    Adios, Comodo

Comodo is in effect adware plain and simple in my view. It is not free as it installs geekbuddy without choice. Geekbuddy is a money making tool. You get a free trial of it and then when the trial is over it wrecks havoc on your computer and you will have to pay for the privalage of it fixing your system that it has messed up in the first place. Most of the good reviews have got to Comodo crownies/employees. Try PrivateFirewall if you want trouble free, free means free firewall, that if you configure properly will give you total control of your system. Comodo AV is one of the worst AV's out there, so bad in fact that they dont allow the top independent AV labs to test it any more!!!!!!!
