    "It Does It All!"

    November 21, 2004  |

Never had a problem with DW MX 2004. Been using it about a year now. The WYSIWYG editing (aka Design Mode) is a snap! And one click takes you into the code, or you can split the window to show both simultaneously. There are several code and design samples to be had for free, and purchasing this gives you access to several excellent additional add-ons. You also can and should create a local "site" for each of your websites - this is wonderful for keeping everything organized. And in creating a site, when you move a page or subset of your site to a different folder under the site, all of the links to those pages or items are automatically updated in all pages to reflect the change. Very cool! FTP'ing is easy with the integrated FTP capability. Developing dynamic pages (using server-side databases like mysql, sqlserver, others) is easy after spending a few days to learn the ropes. Price is hefty at around $400, but it's true that you get what you pay for. I've learned quite a bit, especially by reviewing the Code/Reference help section which includes help for HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL, ASP, and more. Seems like everytime I use DW, I'm learning something new and useful. Very happy I decided to spring for this -it's been an investment in my education and has allowed me to do things which previously were a mystery.
