If the old lady knew that much about computer, she would have fixed it herself without asking someone to help her.
I live not too far from Arlington, Texas. Next time if my computer needs to be repaired, I surely would not take it to Aaron's shop. His shop is now on my blacklist.

Well said ILoveLinux
Ubuntu is getting towards a Mac, and leaves Verminous Vista in the dust, being a DRM machine and $ rip-off, while XP needs so much work to set it up, and then continuous maintenance afterwards its unbelievable.
Be warned though, Ubuntu requires an investment of time for research, but the simple documentation is all there on Ubuntu.com
I am only a novice and I did use Ubuntu.

Regards Bill

1. Spybot Search and Destroy is a great app. Just one thing, when installing remove the checkmark that says Tea Timer Resident Shield. Spybot works miracles in removing, but the resident is a mess. Just unclick it or go to advance mode/tools/ and turn it off. With AVG 8.0 Free Ed. is an impossible to gauge combo for security. Also Zone Alarm is kind of outdated, AVG 8.0 stops most of the intrusions. Zone Alarms lags the computer down, it consumes too many resources. Same goes for Norton, MacAffe and other antivirus. Thats what makes AVG the perfect choice.
2. What you did helping her, is what makes your work count. Every good job you do gives you more reconnaissance. Helping others is good. But one day you can find out that thanks to that experience now you have a great job offer. (Personal Experience)
3. You can always do free repairs but for the real thing you can gain good money from it. And the best Tools for the job (meaning security issues) are free.

Tip: Always have a USB Pen Drive with your tools and I recommend you tho have the following, AVG 8.0 Antivirus Free, Spybot Search & Destroy, HiJackThis and CCleaner. With this tools you can clean the worst case withing a few hours.

I didn't see Malwarebytes Antimalware listed. It has saved two computers that looked like they were ready for degaussing. One had Norton Internet security, the other had CA antivrus, which did nothing. Combined with Avast free antivirus, it works quite well and finds the real stuff, not the same cookies over and over. AdAware and Spybot never find anything. MAM found the program and registry entries that were preventing any system files at all from being run, i.e. task manager, system restore, norton, uninstall programs. Malwarebytes, you're my hero! Along with Firefox, you're all set. This is not an ad. This has been my experience in two situations like the one mentioned above.
