Comments on: Ad-Aware improves for 2008

I find the program extremely slw. I takes 2 hours to scan my pc. Spybot takes 25 minutes, advanced windows care 10 minutes. It hardly matters if i use full scan or not.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Having same problem with Ad-Aware 2008. It took more than 3 hours for full scan and the smart scan took two hours. The 2007 SE version took only half the time to do the same.
Is this normal or was there a hitch with the new download?

I use spyware terminator which is SO much better. It scans realtime and you can add anti-virus for free. The scanning is quicker too, much quicker. I also use Avast! which i recommend, and comodo

I recommend you to download spybot it is great free spyware removal tool i ever seen. Some free software offers spyware with them so they not completely freee. :) so you have to be careful when you install any free software too.

I beta tested Ad Adware 2008 and have used the final release, and both failed to impress me. Installing the free version installs things you can't ever use, but are just there in case you want to upgrade, which gets rather annoying. Also, scans were incredibly slow (as usual) and had a poor detection rate. While it detects common threats well, it seems to be riding along purely on its reputation from a few years back. While Ad Adware SE was a great product at the time, things have changed. Ad Adware isn't doing its job very well. I would choose another product, like A-squared free.
