Happens to guys too. I was a victim when my EX ,although moved out of the house, started taking money from my bank accounts through various schemes. I was going to give you the readers a list of the ways EX manipulated me, my money, and my computer but I'm not going to do that since it might give ideas to others. Sufficient to say I was devastated by this, especially because of the various ways I came to be in shock and awe of EX's attacks on my computer. The items that online sites to verify your identity (mother's maiden name, social security number, birthdate, everything! ) are all items that the EX knew from years of being together. So I lost my online identity plus my real time bricks and mortar stores and institutions were being raided.

Over time I got back most of what I lost. Then I saw friends using Macs with no anti-virus software because hackers don't write malware or viruses, worms, trojans for Macs.

So I bought a Mac and I'm living happily ever after.

good for you!!!
thats great that you were able to stop that person.
But, I would like to say that this is a common myth, that MAC is inveicable.
Not true. The reason why MAC is more secure is because MAC is a better OS and there wasn't enough of people using MAC (compared to the millions using windows) to make it worth any hackers time to do so. (write virus's)
but its only a matter of time until hackers start writing virus, spyware, etc,..
For MAC. there are rumors of some one already writing virus for MAC.

I don't understand why this lady was not told to password protect the bios/cmos of her machine... no way windows can be booted with a password protected bios/cmos, and a padlock on the computer case...
A good deadbolt on her front door would have done wonders...
If someone still breaks in your home after that, make sure you call ADT or Sloaman Shield and order home security system...
This is a lot cheaper than buying 30 computers and cell phones...

sounds like an edger alen poe story. i find this one to hard to believe. the only thing i can see in this story is the husband did himself a favor by getting out, this woman sounds totally nuts. i had a rootkit and only paid $29.99 for spyware doctor to remove it in about 7 minutes. i still have the computer, too. my opinion is someone's practicing their creative writing skills or needs to up the meds a little bit.
