I use tab launchpad from stardock. It hasn't been updated for a long time but it works on Vista as well as XP and it's pretty fast/useful. I paid for the Object desktop suite so I might as well use this too.

I've been using freeware LaunchMate on all my computers since the days of W98 : it certainly runs under XP and, I would think, under Vista.

It allows something like 20 categories with 20 programs in each and takes the form of an auto-hideable bar (I keep mine at the top of the screen).

Dead simple to set up and very powerful.

Nice. I think Launchy is a bit weird. I used it and it seems to be one of those "lazy" apps, however it is useful for people who don't get too technical with computers (my dad for example only watches movies online.)

The Mac applications look so much more sleek and pretty. I wish I have a Mac :)

I use the free version of Stardock's Object Dock. Fast, easy and its always right there at the bottom of the screen. Its the closest a windows user will ever get to having the pretty interface of a Mac.
