by ravi16aug February 22, 2008 10:42 PM PST: The steps outlined in this tutorial are for use when these three free tools have failed you:
1. First of all scan your computer with Rootkit Revealer. Google the stuff that it detects for possible malicious content.
2. Install a-Squared Free Edition and update it. Perform a full system scan. Its the best free anti-trojan software.
3. Remove your current antivirus software and install avast! antivirus. It is not because avast! is a superb antivirus(Antivir beats it hands down anytime), but because after the installation is finished it will ask you if you want to perform a full system scan at BOOT TIME(i.e., before windows actually loads, which is far far better than SAFE MODE). Tell it to perform the scan and baby sit the computer for a while till the scan is completed.
