Many other free utilities specialize in registry editing, backup, or defragmentation. And some all-round PC optimizing suites also include registry maintenance functions, such as the free Glary Utilities.
I hope this is helpful. For more great information on useful free and cheap software and Web sites, visit my utilities blog at http://jonathanstoolbar.blogspot.com !
With the worst ones, which were often as highly recommended as any here, I've performed the scan and clean, tried to reboot, and found within minutes that I had to reinstall the pre-scan copy. Net value of zero minus the time I spent using the cleaner.
Have they gotten any better?
Why Google still allows it to be even displayed on the website with false advertising such as that I find outrageous. If it was television or print media they would not be allow to deceive or use false advertising yet they seem to get away with it on Search Engines.
If a registry cleaner is free, then it should allow you to fix all the errorrs for free. Most of them only allow you to fix 25 or 50 errors for free before you have to pay for them. However, Advanced Registry Fix gives you 3 full fixes for free, at least its free fix your errors unlike some of the tools.
Make your own mind up, test many and decide on the best and what suits you.
Take this page as an example. Who the hell is Jason Parker? Some dimwit who doesn't mind using his real name but doesn't make one typo or syntactic error? I don't think so! And it just so happens that the three he's reviewed are all fair to good depending on the price so that whoever might consider a registry cleaner has the price option they can also consider. GIVE ME A BREAK!
I thought CNET might supply some reasonable review of the most common registry cleaners but they are like all the other sites I've looked at -TOTALLY COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES that run sponsored and disguised reviews!
IF YOUR REALLY LOOKING FOR AN UNBIASED REVIEW YOU"LL HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - just like me! Seeyalater!!!

- A registry cleaner is useful if it only cleans safe entries. A registry cleaner is dangerous if it cleans necessary entries from the registry or causes more harm than good.

(8 Comments)After testing many registry cleaners and pc cleaning programs....I selected NCleaner.
nCleaner contains an advanced system and application cleaner with over 90 cleaning items available, a Registry Cleaner, a Tweak Manager, an advanced Startup Manager, a Junk Finder, a Free Space Shredder, a System Resource Monitor, a System Adviser, supports logging and statistics as well as advanced Scheduling. And to make it better....NCleaner is FREE. So far NCleaner has provided an effective way of cleaning my registry without problems or headaches.
Another good program ,especially for newbies - I recommend Registry First Aid. Registry First Aid identifies which registry entries are SAFE to remove and which entries should be removed with CAUTION. I usually trust Registry First Aid to protect registry entries that should not be touched...and it has been effective so far.
