Good choices... More alternatives available
by JonathansToolBar&Grill October 24, 2007 1:31 AM PDT: I can't dispute your choices, but please allow me, as another utilities wonk, to suggest a few equally good freeware options:

I've been happily using Spyware Terminator for some time, but also use Spyware Blaster, which works slightly differently. The two coexist happily. Spyware Blaster only watches for attempts to install malware, but doesn't scan for installed malware. Updates are manual, unfortunately. A fairly new entrant is Threatfire (formerly Cyberhawk), which should be a good malware catcher ? but over the short time I've been testing it, I suspect it of causing problems in my Windows XP system, so be careful with it.

As for DriveHQ, it is a fine backup solution, but other Web-hosted backup sites offer better deals. These include Xdrive (5 GB of storage and good backup software) and Mozy (2 GB and a good backup client), both free. I have also used DriveHQ FileManager and DriveHQ Web Album Publisher. These are also great. Better, you get all the software for free.
