Comments on: Comodo Pro is excellent for amateurs, too

The name says Comodo Pro, but the incredibly deep-featured program is easy enough for a first-time user to get a handle on.

Comodo Pro is lighter on your PC
by WaccyBob October 6, 2007 2:36 AM PDT
Also is the best soft in leak tests. ZoneAlarm is second in my opinion, still a very good firewall, mainly in Pro version!!!

Comodo Pro Firewall
by bassie10 October 6, 2007 2:34 PM PDT
I have been using several different Firewalls. Now you hear a lot about Comodo and that there programs are all free and not just to try but for livetime. I installed Comodo Firewall Pro and Comodo Antivirus. I am an amateur, but found using Comodo easy enough to use. I am very impressed and I will therefore continue using Comodo Firewall Pro and Antivirus. They go very well together on 1 PC and give me all the protection I need. For Spyware I use of course different programs.

Comodo Pro Beta 3.0.9.229
by softapo7 October 6, 2007 3:28 PM PDT
I have been using the beta release for Vista some months now. The present version provides excellent bugless protection. It is a bit intrusive- one must allow every new program in- but worth the effort in my opinion.

How come this product is not in "Reviews"?
by rgrsz October 6, 2007 8:26 PM PDT
As this article says, "Living under the radar for too long, at some point out of the limelight it became a solid, state-of-the-art firewall with little reason left to ignore it."

Yet this company's product does not come up under the "reviews" here. How come? I guess because only paid advertisers get reviewed and listed. Pity -- these guys really do try and deliver a great product and make no $$$ from it. No wonder they can't afford to pay to be reviewed. But I would expect better from CNET. They should be listed -- largely because they deserve to be listed.

Let's just hope they review CFP 3 when it comes out of beta. I expect a rating nothing less of 5 stars.

Free Firewalls
by bassie10 October 7, 2007 2:06 AM PDT
Yesterday I have a comment on the Comodo Firewall. Very good program. Now I discover, that PC Tools also has a free Firewall. I have been using PC Tools for quite a while and like the programs. I decided to try their Firewall. However, during installation I got twice the warning, that the Software I install is not compatable with Window Logo test and therefore advised not to continue installation. I might otherwise get problems with my system. I decided to ignore it and install the Firewall. So far no problems, but I am not sure what to do. Continue using it or delete it. Has anybody else come across this problem ??

Great product

I've been using Comodo and have no complain about it. It was my first time using a firewall and I have not been overwhelmed by its interface. Tried to use other firewall but the ease of setup of Comodo is nice enough even for a noob.

Comodo IS Great - Proven Excellence
by hpskipp2005 October 8, 2007 11:51 PM PDT
Been Zonealarm [pro] user for years - good program. Had Comodo pro now for six months.Comodo IS Excellence. Not slow to load, never has complications with other programs. Once the initial 'learning' period of approving programs access to internet is over [after a few days install]- Comodo just sails along. Great on low ram pcs. Try it - Its developers deserve more credit

Great firewall for a starter
by ak40saj October 9, 2007 6:49 AM PDT
I used this program on winxp and it was so easy to use. Options were clear and well instructed, you'de hardly have to mess with settings and it does it all for you at the start.
Bets of all, its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Not good with UTorrent...
by Jeremiah2913 October 9, 2007 8:22 AM PDT
I love this firewall. Zonealarm has gone wacko since its last update. Windows Firewall doesn't close all of the ports. This one does great unless you are using a Torrent Client. The problem is that Comodo will not allow anonymous incoming connections and it will not open a port indefinitely. That is good for regular surfing because it keeps me really safe, but when I use Comodo I only get 15-40kb on any given torrent. When I use Windows Firewall and open the torrent port permanently I can get upwards of 300-400kb. I have gotten one virus using this method though because a port on my computer is open and anyone can use it with Windows Firewall turned on. But overall I would recommend Comodo over any other Firewall because of the level of security it adds to my internet experience.

Number 1 with no contenders!
by lisa padron October 9, 2007 12:55 PM PDT
It's about time I see some respect shown for Comodo from Download.com! I have been using it since it was first introduced and think it is excellent. Beats Zone Alarm hands down. Combine it with AVG and you have unbeatable protection.
