ZoneAlarm ForceField (Beta)

Try ZoneAlarm's new beta site protector called ForceField. Has some great features that LinkScanner doesn't offer. I combined it with Mcafee SiteAdvisor. Works well for me.

LinkScanner Lite sucks.

HATE IT! Real-time link Scanning is WAY too slow and I have a broadband connection with 2 gigs of Ram and 2 Ghz processor. More than enough to make LS Lite run. If it was quicker than it would be better than SiteAdvisor.

Another Good Link Scanner

I have been using a free program like McAfee's made by PC Tools. It's called Browser Defender and you can get it from browserdefender.com.

Worth a look and it's free.

Protection from drive by downloads

A free alternative is Comodo Memory Guardian. It stops most of these dangerous drive by download attacks -- many of which are caused by hackers exploiting the buffer overflow. Comodo is the same company who gives away a free firewall that has been highly rated by ComputerWorld, PC Mag etc etc
