µTorrent is fast, easy, reliable, and safe.
by Houndf September 23, 2007 7:10 AM PDT
I switched over to µTorrent about a year ago. Since then I have had faster downloads and a more reliable downloading process. And it doesn't install any of the spyware junk or anything. It gives nice details of your downloads as you download as well. The only thing that it doesn't do is allow you to chat with someone who you are downloading from (in case you want to ask about the movie or something, but most people don't care for that). µTorrent is on the right path to being the #1 bittorrent.

Does anyone know if this is true?
by iguanarama September 25, 2007 7:46 AM PDT
I heard that Bit Torrent keeps logs of who downloaded what/when and who they actually are with ip address, etc. Is this true? I LOVE uTorrent.

uTorrent is the superior torrent client
by Teklord00 September 25, 2007 3:48 PM PDT
I have used both uTorrent (wish I could type the Greek u) and BitTorrent and I have found uTorrent to be faster and more consistent. uTorrent far excels BitTorrent and is my torrential downloading client of choice. I recommend this piece of software to everyone. I wish they had the chat feature as mentioned above, but it has worked very very well for me regardless.

Ares is preferred
by conchchowder September 26, 2007 9:19 AM PDT
I prefer Aresgalaxy available at SourceForge.net It is a combined P2P AND BT client package. The best thing about using Ares for BT, is that there is no finger wagging or this game of ul vs dl percentages and leeching. If my computer hangs up in the middle of seeding, I'm not automatically a BT "public enemy number one". It wasn't my fault that my computer got hung up, or my ISP had a problem...no...I just keep on keepin' on. It is always my intent to reseed as much as possible, but I'm happy to not have to play the "appease the BT gods" game of seeding vs leeching. Version 1.9.9.3019 is the best as far as speed of downloads go. My average speed for a BT download is 250KBps. The footprint is small and along with klite codec pack, VLC Media player (to preview the file before I invest a lot of time in dl a fake file///GOD BLESS AxxO!!!) Divx, Xvid codecs and g-spot, I never have any problems viewing...Could someone please tell me why the other clients are better than Ares?

Why I won't use either client.

I spend most of my time in Linux. µTorrent is Windows only.

The original open-source Bittorrent client is inferiour to other clients based on it (µTorrent, for example in the case of Windows).

The best one out there is Azureus, which runs on Java and therefore runs on anything..

But Java apps tend to slow everything else down.

Personally I prefer Ktorrent or Deluge.
