Comments on: Is a single-size serving of CS3 worth it?

Adobe's Creative Suite 3 comes in at a hefty $2,500, but do you need all of its components? Are the solo versions of the programs worth the cost?

I think that CS3 is worth it if you know how to use it properly.

A bit too much for an old machine
by programming_god July 16, 2007 10:27 PM PDT
I run a Pentium4 2.8 GHZ processor, Intel 865GBF mainboard, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, 512 MG nVidia GeForce 6200 video card. Installation took longer than Windows XP SP2 alone! The installer was a 1.7 GB executable that took like 40 minutes only to uncompress and then the installation process began. It took a long time, probably about two full hours. Then I started my machine and it ran a lot slower. It was a bit frustrating for me since I'm a programmer/designer and having illustrator, fireworks, dreamweaver and other programs opened at once, made my computer really slow. I started missing my Dreamweaver and Fireworks 8 and my Adobe CS or CS2 products. So in my case i uninstalled and went back to the older versions because it was a bit too slow for my 3-4 years old computer. I bet new machines run it really smoothly, but my advice if you have an older machine is to keep the previous versions.

Adobe Does it Faster and Easier!
by spacekatsteveo October 26, 2007 12:02 AM PDT
I have tried a wide variety of other graphics software (Inkscape, Gimp, Open Office Draw, Corel Draw, Paintshop Pro, Microsoft Expression...). They all have there ups and downs, but none of them match the usability of Adobe's Products. They have more tools than you can even think to work with and the customizable pallets make all the features easy to find and use. Yes, it can be bloated, but if you are doing anything with graphics, especially for the professional, having a good system with max memory is always a must. Adobe Master Suite is well worth the cost!!
