by SceptreX July 9, 2007 8:44 PM PDT: I used Azureus for a while before getting sick of the wonky Java interface and lack of easy, accessible options. Then I learned of a program that has changed my life for the better.

uTorrent is small (175 kb), portable (just one .exe) and works perfectly, with everything explained somewhere (easy tutorial). I honestly think that it's just the standard for having internet, that's how easy and well made it is. I don't think it's on CNET, though...it's worth leaving this site for it.; Like this Reply to this comment

Azureus is good, utorrent is way better...

Pronunciation
by CableguyTK July 10, 2007 10:42 AM PDT: I hate to be nitpicky like this, but developers dont like when people call their clients by the wrong name. Before gaim changed to Pidgin, the developers had a whole FAQ article about how gaim shouldn't be called "GAIM" or "gAIM" or whatever, either "Gaim", or "gaim".

uTorrent is actually MicroTorrent, or MuTorrent. The "u" is actually a "mu", which in engineering terms is the symbol for "micro". People use "u" instead of "mu" because I dont think people are willing to search the Windows Character Map to copy the "mu" character everytime they refer to the program.

And I thought Azureus was pronounced "A-zoo-rus"?
I guess this is one of those programs where either one works...similar to Linux "Lin-ux" vs "Ly-nux".; Like this Reply to this comment

by Iendicis July 10, 2007 12:26 PM PDT: I do agree that uTorrent is the best...but why would it be called something else if the file itself (not to mention the logo on the file) is only u, not mu or micro or whatever? When you look at the peers list, it's listed as uTorrent, and that's just what everyone calls it. Whether or not that's the name, the developers put it in there as such pretty ingrained.; Like this Reply to this comment
