New release brings the second-most popular browser up to speed with current browsing technology and trends, and perhaps nudges it ahead of the competition.

I'll never use Firefox. I use Chrome daily because it's super fast and I love the address bar and then I use IE8 for Netflix viewing.

1) Firefox is STILL slower than Internet Explorer...

2) The internet is slow because ADVERTISERS are clogging it up with all those annoying adds!

3)Advertisers are lying about 'keeping the internet free'... them and the sites you visit have simply become money grubbing dogs, trying to milk the public for every last penny they got.

4) Firefox has way too many bugs to EVER be stable....

Haha, the first paragraph makes you sound so naive:

"Firefox 3.5 brings the world's second-most popular browser up to speed with current browsing technology and trends, and perhaps nudges it just a bit ahead of the competition. However, it is by no means the leap ahead that its predecessor Firefox 3 was, and it's clear that the competition isn't going away anytime soon. "

Read over that a few times before looking at what I am writing now. See anything wrong with it? You say that Firefox 3.5 was not nearly as much as a leap ahead as Firefox 3. Well, sorry to burst your bubble but there was no 2.5. It was Firefox 2-3 and 3-3.5. And you are saying that it is not as big a leap ahead? Yep, people know that 1 is greater than .5. They did not make a whole new version, they just went from 3 to 3.5. Seriously, read over your posts before you post it. Otherwise, people like me will point your mistakes out and make you look like an idiot. :)

i have been using FF from years, it's my everyday browser, I love FF because it's simple, customizable, addons like download helper, down them all, adblock plus, link extend etc. If chrome is fastest then it does not matter to me, I want to stay loyal to FF and up to this point FF has revolutionized the browsing experience of users like us.
Hope to see FF 4 very soon! The thing is that the development process of FF takes so long... FF 3 gave us many new features FF 3.5 has only some new but I would like to see the Session saving feature like of opera and less memory and cpu usage...

Yeah, Firefox offers the most third-party extensions, but so what? Most of them useless, if you ask me, and with every major release, many of those extensions get broken and have to be retooled.

Firefox still lags noticeably behind the Webkit browsers in speed, its download/open file dialog still doesn't actually work properly, it doesn't pass the Acid 3 standards test, and as of now it no longer works with Google Gears. Get those fixed, then tell me about all the terrific extensions. I'm sticking with Chrome on my PC at work and Safari on my own Mac.

Look, I'm not a Firefox hater. It used to be my favorite browser, and I credit Mozilla for bringing Web browser development back from the dead. However, just being better (or "cooler") than IE is no longer enough, and Mozilla now has some catching up of their own to do.

yea totally true.

firefox is kinda becoming too ambitious and in the process losing its glamor, stability and class.

ie is still the most stable explorer.

Seamonkey, Chrome, Maxthon, and Opera are far better choices. Also for all the IE haters out there, I would almost be willing to bet that most of the Firefox users have the IE Tab extension. Firefox is a good browser no doubt about that, but it is also highly overrated.

While cnet gives 3.5 great reviews they are the only ones. See below links for all the problems, bugs and crashes with the new 3.5. Slow startup times, gmail renders incorrectly etc etc. I uninstalled in and reinstalled 3.0.

I have had a problem after down-loading FF 3.5. I couldn't load some sites on the Internet. The down load bar would stop half way and not go any further.
FF support indicates this could be a worm or other malicious program. So I ran McAfee Anti-Virus, and found nothing, Support suggested running Microsoft Malicious Software program. And nothing was found (it took over three hours to run).
Support also suggested IE Tab. This works. From the description it says you add the IE engine to work within FF, The only problem is switching back and forth from one engine to the other to load all of the web sites i want to look at.
Has any one else had this problem?
Is there another step around that could be used for this problem?

I like it a lot. Mostly because it doesn't feel too differently from 3 to me. I know there's lots of nifty new hydro-nuclear-cold-fusion going on under the bonnet, but it still runs nice and smooth like my old Firefox. :)

I also feel like Chrome doesn't really run quite as quickly for me, despite the benchmarks, and my colleagues agree. Chrome processes java faster, but the overall feel of the browser's speed leaves us wanting Firefox back. It's a bit like a well worn, used to be orange, comfy chair with goofy floral patterns compared to a nice, new, white plastic patio chair.

I am a big FF fan, but and I updated to V3.5......and uninstalled it a week later and went back to V3. The biggest problem that I had was that it took FOREVER to start. Before anyone comments I am in no mood to perform a variety of tasks to get the browser running more efficiently. I will wait until the bugs are worked out.
