Comments on: Featured Freeware: FlashGet

FlashGet looks and feels like a download accelerator worth paying for, which makes it all the more appealing since it's free.

I use another manager which is free, which does not connect to any outside servers. Flashget connects to all these advertisements, and sites and installs adware! Actually my firewall blocked a lot of the suspicious connections.

This is not a joke people, McAfee SiteAdvisor also says the following about flashget.com:

flashget.com

In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.

This is from the wikipedia page:

Privacy concerns

FlashGet installs adware along with the download manager the user has requested. These components cannot be deselected during the install, and the privacy policy of the adware providers is not disclosed to users. [2]

here's the link to the wikipedia page:

This is the link to the McAfee SiteAdvisor page:

Use another download manager which does not intrude your privacy!

I recommend this Free Download Manager which can be found here on download.com:

It's my favorite downloader before, but getting hog now. Norton detects adware as well. Never use it anymore.
