I have this and yet another phenomenon, it plays the video and no sound. It seems to me that it happens when I have multiple FF3 windows up, especially when I have Yahoo! news video window up. I will close out all Firefox widows and then open up another Firefox window and things seem to go good again. But for me this has been happening since FF2.

This is all bull, any webmaker should only use Flash 7, that way, any computer and any flash player >7 will play the damn thing. Why OH Why is the a constant new flash out there to be upgraded to? What benefit is it to me to have flash 9, 10, or 11? Flash sucks because they are always making it 'better'.

It is a benefit to you because Flash 8, 9 and 10 are much faster than Flash 7, and it fixed a bunch of problems and added a bunch of new features, not the least of which was getting rid of that limitation on the number of frames that Flash videos can have.

If it's not reproducable, then there's no reason to expect a quick fix. Not Mozilla's fault.

mine is a different problem:

Here on CNET, with FF3 and flash, and with FF2 as well, only 1-3 videos will play on CNET TV. After that, there is an error message: your video is loading, please wait. It never starts, no matter how long I wait. I end up having to refresh my page, which brings me back to the CNET TV homepage. This is very annoying when trying to look at a series of videos.

I only experience this problem with firefox, not IE.

This is a problem when you have Ad-Block installed. You have to turn that off and actually WATCH the ads on this site. Really, I have just gotten rid of Ad-Block. Most website developers have gotten very good about designing their websites so that the ads they run are not intrusive anymore, so I just watch them and go.

Thanks for the help

This isn't the only issue between Flash and Firefox 3. If you don't have the Flash player installed, the auto-detection and auto-install works in Firefox v2 but not in Firefox v3. I wrote about this two months ago
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13554_3-9975202-33.html

In addition, Adobe does not seem to have a great understanding of Firefox plugins. I have seen their Flash uninstaller leave behind copies of Flash that Firefox continued to find and use.

Doesn't surprise me that Flash is in the news again! I'm not a programmer but I know enough that when it was suggested that I upgrade my old version of Flash7 to Flash9.something for Internet Explorer, boy, what a pain in the ass! Adobe thinks it's always someone else's problem or it's the user's problem. If the user can't fix it, it the user's problem and they wash their hands. I don't foresee this bug being resolved by Adobe...Finally switched to Firefox and the problem is gone.

I have had no problems with Flash 9 under Ubuntu 8.04 Linux using Firefox 3. So it very well could be a problem with Windows and Firefox 3. The solution? Switch to Linux folks :)

I have Firefox 3 and Flash 9 on 7 machines, and have not had a problem with any one of them. I only use 4 extensions (NoScript, CS Lite, AdBlock Plus and Firebug). I am sure that if this is isolated to FF it is a extension problem.

I actually experienced this a couple of days back on my desktop and again today on my laptop. Glad nothing is wrong with my machines, but for a bug to stand that long is unconscionable.
The only common denominator in terms of plugins is Gmail Notifier, so I doubt it's a third party problem.

I had the Flash/Firefox bug until I followed CNet's advice and updated to the version 10 beta. But now, with Firefox 3 and Flash 10, Firefox randomly crashes on me when I'm on some pages with Flash. It seems usually to happen when I'm on a page with Flash and use the ALT-left arrow shortcut to go back one page, although it's happened at other times. Am I the only one this is happening to? I have no idea if it's Firefox 3 or Flash 10. Anyone ... anyone...?

I'm also experiencing this problem but guess what, not with Firefox but with IE 7. When I try to watch a video the page tells me I need Flash player but it is already installed!! And re-installing it doesn't fix the problem. I experienced this problem with Firefox in the past but now is with IE 7.

In my opinion Firefox need not fix anything - I believe a better idea would be to ban Flash from web pages entirely - It serves very little purpose except to widen bandwidth and slow everything down. Scrap it, it's junk!
