Over the past months, we've been hard at work redesigning our site. Wondering what, exactly, has changed? Here's a brief tour.

I like the new site. It loads way fast. The font is fine(??? WTH??? Why would anyone get so freaked out and aggressive over a font?) I find everything I need, everytime. The search is great. It seems to me, that each of the whining are perspective problems. My kids work on seeing different situations in new ways, as it increases your ability to learn more in a shorter time. Maybe my 5y/o could teach an online class. ? Sorry for the sarcasm, but Wow! Reading the first 15 posts or so was almost painful as these Freeware GIFTS are being checked, reviewed and arrainged in a thoughtful way. I am embarrased that what is a useful, insightful, generous and powerful set of tools, laid out for our selection, FOR FREE, is being met by a bunch of petty complaints.
Sad Responses-

For the most part, the 'new' look seems to be just fine... does take a bit of time to get use to. I do have one URGENT request: please find some time to re-examine exactly what you put in your "categories"... there
is way too much stuff in quite a few of them that has absolutely nothing to do with the category itself ! Also,
I suggest that your items in most categories need to be better organized - put things together either by date of submission, or alphabetically - or, allow the user to pick something instead of the randomness
that seems to be in place now.

I am very upset with the CNet Download.com music change. Where are all the new artists that were given a chance to reveal their talents to the world? The new format of change doesn't allow the friendly open listening of music where new artists can get exposure. I liked the way you could go to your favorite genre and see the latest in uploads of these new talents, that were looking for a break. I guess I won't keep up my viewing here. The music was the only way I ended up getting into the forums and other such download fare.

i like the way the site is now but still you can make a separate section for freewares, so that entering the freeware section will be much easier.

Welcome to the new Download.com

I've never had a problem with Spybot, always run very well and makes a good addition to a spyware detecting library. Also, last time I checked it had 103,646,389 downloads, so they must be doing something right. Seeing as though you seem to know so much about spyware detection maybe you should write your own program. Looking at your other comments, you don't seem to like anything so go and make it yourself if you're so clever.

Two things:

I get an email from CNET saying an updated version of FireFox is available (3.0.11) I download it, try to put the new version in my Apploications folder, and am told that I have a newer version installed. I check that version and it is the 3.0.10 version. Newer version? No. What is going on?

How do I get the type above the "need a microscope to read" size?

Any help out there, please?

Microsoft Security Essentials is easy to install and easy to use. Updates and upgrades are automatic, so there?s no need to worry about having the latest protection. It?s easy to tell if you?re protected ? when the Security Essentials icon is green, your status is good. It?s as simple as that.

You can download check more on:

All those music were top drawer for the new artist -
So what you gave um to last fm who . . . what? Stored um? I wish!
So give us the stright and skinny?

Folks: you are to be commended on the continued improvements you are making to this site. HOWEVER, you have one very important task that must be dealt with, and the sooner, the better. Your categories have to be CLEANED UP ! and I do mean CLEANED UP !
As an example, if you type in Internet Security Suites into the search bar, some of the items that will show up have absolutely nothing to do with Internet Security - like Skype 4.1 (on page 3 or 4) to name but one of many.
I realize that in some case, a degree of "crossover" may be necessary, but it is quite a stretch to say that Skype has anything to do with Internet Security Suites.
Unfortunately, this problem continues to infest far too many categories on this site, which is a terrible shame.

Why are the descriptions of software restricted to one paragraph. I have a program listed on download.com but it has many separate features. It would be infinitely better for the user to read paragraphs separated by blank lines. But I was told that blank lines are not allowed ???

Why does download.com change the author's description. Why not let the author's use their own words to describe their own product? Download.com can always add a separate tab for the editor's review.

Why do most companies do false advertising which amounts to lying. This is why the public does not trust hardly anyone. I asked for free materials to scan my pc and make it run faster for free. You claim to scan my computer butk when I ask you to repair errors, a page pops up for me to pay a price to have this done. This make me very iritated and you would be too, if you were lied to.

I want ALL of my errors fixed immediately at no charge as you promised and I want it done NOW>

Thanks

I seem to find many weriters to you find a lot of faults, that are either free or good for a try! That seems to be a bit mean, on the part of some of them. I, myself, regard your site as a place to find informatiom and downloads that are mostly frre or free to try. I appreciate what your site does for the lowly retired folks.
Thank you for what you do, though it costs you, as mostly free ithems and information.
garbage dump.
