iHandy Translator Free has more than 50 options to choose from to let you translate text from one language to another. This is a great tool to have if you're traveling, or if you often need to translate short bits of text. The app works quickly, and the interface is clear and intuitive, so using it is a very pleasant experience.
The first thing you see when you open iHandy Translator is an ad asking if you want to upgrade to the pro version. Once you skip past that, though, you can begin entering text to translate immediately. Either type from scratch or copy and paste the text you want to translate into the box at the top of the screen, and then select the language you want to translate it into in the bottom box. The origin language can be set manually, or you can choose to have the app detect the language before translating. Language options show up in an alphabetical list that you can scroll through, beginning with Afrikaans and ending with Yiddish. In between, you'll find Czech, Dutch, Galician, Haitian Creole, Hindi, and dozens more.
iHandy Translator Free will let you translate any text you want, and the banner ads don't take away from the experience at all. If you want to access some of the more advanced features like text to speech and a common phrase book, you can upgrade for $1.99 to the pro version. Even the free version, though, provides a lot of useful options; and it works well, making it a good choice if you need a translation app.
