Opera Mini review

Surf the Web faster with this slim browser made for long-screen smartphones.

Opera Mini Browser is everything you'd expect from a browser with the Opera name, even in spite of some hit-or-miss features. It can run neck and neck with the other popular browsers in the Google Play store in terms of speed and performance. If you're still stuck on Android's default browser, give this interesting app a shot.

This is a version of Opera's full browser that has been shrunk down to look good on smartphones and tablets. Opera Mini Browser seems designed for the phone's Portrait mode, which means it will look a little cramped and require extra scrolling on smaller phones. Regardless of the size of your mobile gadget, you'll find tabbed browsing, speed dial, and bookmarks, which all work just as well as they would on a full version of Opera. You can even access Opera's exclusive sync feature to share bookmarks and pages from multiple instances of the browser. If you choose to log in with social networks, the app will let you get and share recommended pages, too. While you can do a lot to change this browser's layout, you can't access a night mode to save battery and eye strain. As far as speed, Opera loaded pages just as quickly as other browsers.

While you might not like the longer page view for all of your browsing, some people will really enjoy it. Either way, Opera Mini Browser is a loaded browser that is worthy of serious acclaim. While it may not be enough to pull you away if you're using Dolphin, Chrome, or Firefox, it will make your jaw drop if you've been using Android's default browser.
