MassFaces review

Find and download your friends' Facebook videos with this easy-to-use freeware.

MassFaces offers a quick and easy way to find and download friends' videos on Facebook for free. All you have to do is paste the URL of a friend's page into MassFaces and hit the Search icon to find all the videos they've posted, and then download it in standard or high definition or take a snapshot. You can filter search results, automatically open files, and search your own videos, too. But MassFaces also searches for publicly posted videos on Google (and potentially other sites).

This compact tool's installer let us sign in to Facebook with our existing account, but we could also launch the program separately and sign in to other Facebook accounts. The user interface is compact, too, with a search bar and a main window displaying results with thumbnails and download links. Recently linked videos are listed under a star icon. An account log-on icon and button to search either our own page or friends' round out the controls. MassFaces has few options, but they're useful ones like always on top and clearing the thumbnails cache. The app's Help page only links to a basic product page, but MassFaces is extremely easy to understand since it does most of the work for you.

We've already described how to use MassFaces: Paste the URL of a Facebook page that allows video access and hit the "Search" button. Browse the results and download your choices. Then watch them in your usual media player. If necessary, you can limit the number of results with the Filter option. Targeted searches (such as keywords) would be a nice addition, but MassFaces certainly made it easier to find our friends' videos.
