X-Men: Battle of the Atom review

Gather your favorite characters to battle notorious villains to celebrate X-Men's 50th anniversary.

X-Men: Battle of the Atom is a battle card game for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets you assemble decks of cards and battle classic villains. Put together a powerful team with characters from all 50 years of X-Men comics, and work to defeat all of the worst villains including Magneto, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, and more. This game even supports real-time multiplayer battles.

The first time you open X-Men: Battle of the Atom, you'll get a brief introduction to the premise of the game from a few of the main characters. You can skip this introduction if you'd like, but even if you don't need the background information, it's presented in an appealing, comic book format. Graphics are good, and the action is interspersed with dialog to move the story along. If you're not interested in the story, though, you can skip all of these sections and get right into the fighting.

The interface of this game is clear and functional, and the tutorial at the beginning gives you all the information you need to get started. X-Men: Battle of the Atom is free to play, although to fully unlock all of the features, you'll have to purchase coins in packages ranging from $0.99 for 100 coins to $99.99 for 11,000 coins. Any fans of X-Men or card games should check out this app. It has a lot of features, good graphics, and it runs well.
