PaperScan is an intuitive app that lets you use your iOS device's camera to create quality scans. If you're someone who always has little scraps of paper floating around (and getting lost), PaperScan is an excellent way to get organized and reduce clutter.
PaperScan opens with a tutorial that walks you through each of its steps, but even without this the app would be easy to figure out. Just aim your device at the document you want to capture, take the photo, and PaperScan will automatically crop the image, removing the background entirely, and save it as a clean-looking document. The app also gives you the option to crop manually in case you're scanning something of an irregular shape. We tried the app with several pieces of paper we had lying around on our desk, including coupons, business cards, and other items, and we were impressed with the results. Items printed on glossy paper ended up with a slight glare to them, but that wasn't the fault of the app. We especially liked that PaperScan makes it easy to share documents via e-mail or text or upload documents to DocuWare, Dropbox, and Google Drive. You can set the app to automatically delete uploaded documents so that they don't take up space on your device. Overall, we think PaperScan is a great choice for anyone who needs to scan documents without a proper scanner. The quality won't be quite as good, but for most uses the app's convenience will make up for it.
PaperScan installs and uninstalls without issues.
