Review: PixelPoint HD is a photo editor with plenty of effects for your iPad

Enhance your photos and create beautiful images with this powerful photo editing tool.

PixelPoint is a powerful photo editing tool for your iPad that lets you adjust your images to perfection and add filters to finish them off. There are many tools available through this app's intuitive and functional interface, and once you've got your photo just the way you want it, it's easy to share it on Facebook or Twitter or save it to your camera roll.

When you open PixelPoint for the first time, you're given the option of connecting with Facebook or just continuing on to edit your photos. You can go back and connect at any time, and you don't have to let the app post automatically to Facebook on your behalf if you don't want to. When you're ready to get started, just tap on the "Begin Editing" section and select a photo to use. You can choose anything from your camera roll, or you can take one directly through the app. To make adjustments to the photo, there are sliders on the right-hand side of the screen that control brightness, contrast, saturation, shadows, highlights, hue, and more. You can also sharpen or blur the image, add a vignette effect, or crop the photo.

Next come the filters, and there are a lot of great ones, although only six of them are free. The rest require an in-app purchase of $0.99 for each package of between five and eight filters, and there are nine of these packages available. It's no problem to share or save your completed photo via Facebook or Twitter with the controls at the top of the screen, and you can even order a canvas print of your photo from CanvasPop directly from the app. Although the lack of free filters is a bit of a drawback, this is a powerful photo editing app, and definitely worth a try.
