Cute Video Audio Merger adds new soundtracks to your videos by merging video and audio recordings, including HD files, into a single file in a variety of output formats. It can add sound to silent video or replace existing soundtracks with your audio files, such as music and narration. Basic operation and settings limit your ability to customize the videos Cute Video Audio Merger produces, but it's great for quick jobs like greeting cards, instructional videos, and Internet memes, and it lets you share your creations quickly, too. Cute Audio Video Merger is freeware for Windows NT/98 to 8.
Like many such programs, this app's plain but businesslike user interface looks like a beefed-up system dialog, though Cute Video Audio Merger's layout stands out starting with output folder and file options instead of the typical Add Files feature. It makes sense since the typical job involves adding multiple audio files to single or multiple videos; thus Cute Video Audio Merger's Add Video field is narrow and the Add Audio field is an expanded list view. Video output options include FLV, MP4, iPod, OGG, and many others. We set out output options, browsed to an HD video, and then selected some MP3s as a soundtrack. Pressing "Merge" finished the job. Our new video (or, more precisely, old video with new soundtrack) played well in our media player. Of course, quality is a hit-or-miss affair, but a little experimenting could yield pretty good results.
Cute Audio Video Merger didn't always run smoothly in our 64-bit system, and the "Help" button apparently does nothing, though the program's Web site has some information and support links. But for fast and free video/audio merging, our complaints about Cute Video Audio Merger are minor.
