GifRus would be an impressive step-by-step GIF creator, if it worked more consistently. The app is subject to far too many random crashes, most of which impede your opportunity to do much of anything with the app. It's a shame, because the app would be solid otherwise, thanks to a decent layout and easy setup.
GifRus lets you record up to 20 seconds of footage and then easily turn it into a looping, animated GIF. The app has its very own camera that makes it easy to catch great-looking footage. Once you've got the footage you want, GIfRus takes you to a still-image selector so you can choose exactly which frames you want in the final image. That is, if the app works -- which didn't happen too often during our tests. When we tested it, the app crashed seven straight times right after we tried to get to the menu. The only time we did get to the menu during testing, we were impressed by the number of effects and editing features we could apply to each frame as we were creating the GIF. Then you can share it right from the app, with ease.
It's really unfortunate that there are so many great things inside of this app, because it will be rare that you actually have a chance to use them. Instead, GifRus crashes more often than most apps and often does it at the worst possible time. It's worth the try, as this occurrence could have been due to our Android version or our device, but don't get your hopes up.
