Review: Survival Run with Bear Grylls is a familiar but still fun endless runner

Race your way through rough terrain as Bear Grylls in the ultimate survival test.

Survival Run with Bear Grylls is an endless runner that looks and plays a lot like Temple Run, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, especially with a few new kinks thrown in to enhance the fun. While the layout, graphics, and general feel are very similar to that of other endless runner games, the experience feels unique in just enough ways to warrant a download for Bear Grylls fans.

When you load the app, you can dive right into the game or you can check out settings, buy coins, or upgrades. You'll get a daily bonus, as well, which can be used to buy upgrades in the future. The game, itself, is almost identical to Temple Run in the first few minutes. Swipe to turn, swipe to jump & slide, and tilt to move your character around the screen and pick up coins and avoid obstacles. It's a fun formula and it works very well with the personality in this version. Combined with new and diverse environments you'll unlock later and other power-ups that fit the theme of the show, you have a great imagining of the genre that plays smoothly and without issue.

If you've never played an endless runner or if you are a fan of Bear Grylls, then this is an app worth checking out. It's accessible, free to play, and full of upgrades and fun challenges. There are ways to spend real money here and upgrade your character or buy things to recover after a fall or crash, but they are not required and there are hours of gameplay to be had here for free.
