Review: Access your favorite Web sites on the go using Symbaloo

Turn your bookmarks into buttons that take you right to your favorite sites using the mobile version of this free Web-based social service.

Symbaloo gives you a more visual take on traditional bookmarks, but the app's default settings can be a little off-putting. It doesn't let you use your browser right away or change the way the app looks. Still, if you already use the Web version of this app, you'll feel right at home in the mobile version.

This app is a port of the popular Web-based bookmarking service. You set up a series of tiles that take you to your favorite page or site and can then organize them and change their colors with ease. Though you can access all your preset tiles and change the colors in the Android version of Symbaloo, you can't add themes or new wallpaper to your homepage. Whenever you tap a link, it takes you to the page in the app, itself, instead of loading it directly in your browser. This does help you get back to the app easily, but adding the option to go directly to your browser when you click the link would be nice. You can open your browser or share the link to another app or e-mail, but you can't share your list of Web sites like you would with a regular bookmark list.

Symbaloo is a neat way of viewing bookmarks on your Android device, but some people might not find it as useful as traditional bookmarks. If you like your bookmarks to be more animated, you'll probably love this app's cool buttons. However, if you want social bookmarks or to create a custom homepage where you choose your wallpaper and designs, you won't find it here.
