Review: Complete assigned goals and earn points to progress through Gems Journey

Match gems with this straightforward and entertaining game targeting patient puzzle lovers.

Colorful and fun, Gems Journey features a style and gameplay that you'll like if you enjoy classic Match 3-type games such as Bejeweled. While its design is not innovative, the game is well made and provides a great way to pass time.

After installing Gems Journey, you'll discover an advertisement bar on the bottom of the game screen. Though this ad is big enough to be seen, it's not distracting at all, especially on tablets. You will also encounter an ad when you start the game, as well as occasional ads in between levels. The game features rather appealing music, but if you'd rather play in peace, you can easily mute it. Same goes for game sounds. The gameplay is straightforward; all you have to do is match three gems of the same color to make them disappear. Moving the gems one square at a time makes matches. However, for each level you get a specific task and you need to gather a certain number of points. Completing the first few available levels in the first area (Castle) opens up the locked levels and lets you move further. Depending on the number of bonuses you manage to get, your score will rise and you may obtain up to three stars for each level you complete. During testing, the game responded well and ran smoothly without any bugs.

If you're looking for a nice and clean puzzle game devoid of complicated rules, you will like Gems Journey. It's easy to play, fun, and overall, addictive.
