Review: LetterFx layers filtered letter effects over your images before sharing

Create and share images with letter effects on them with your iOS device.

LetterFX is a fast, easy-to-use app that allows you to choose from among numerous letter-style effect filters for your images. You can load any image on your device, then layer it with transparent text, images, or shapes and numbers before sharing with friends. While the app opens without much explanation of what you can do, it works quickly and the resulting images look good for a free app.

After opening the app, you'll be greeted with a slightly messy interface and numerous filters and buttons. While it looks confusing, at first, and the interface is unnecessarily jumbled, there are only really two options to choose from -- either load an image or load a filter for that image. Once you do that you can start testing different letter and number filters, and generally they all look pretty good. The filters change on the fly for live previews, and at any time you can save and share the image you are working on with friends via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or e-mail. It's all easy to do and while there are some locked features, most of them are open and ready for use.

LetterFX is a bit of a mixed bag. The app feels crowded and unclear, at first glance, but after some time using it, the filters become easier to find and the process of converting and sharing an image takes only seconds. For a free app, LetterFX works as well as you would expect and maybe a little better. That makes it worth a download for any iPhotogs.
