Review: Pics 2 Frames allows you to frame your pictures from an iOS device

This free picture framing app works well but is impeded by excessive advertising.

Pics 2 Frames is a free photo editing tool for adding frames, filters, and text to images. It is easy to use with a lot of customizable options, filters, and frame choices, but a few too many ad pop-ups take away from the experience of using the free software.

Pics 2 Frames is an image editor that allows you to place photos into frames and prepare them for Instagram, Facebook, or storage on your iOS device. It has several frame options, several sizes, the ability to customize colors, shapes, and layouts, and a number of filter options, all free with the initial download. Pics 2 Frames doesn't require an upgrade to use any of the features; and in our tests, the app ran smoothly and without any crashes or bugs.

Overall, Pics 2 Frames provides a useful, free service, but as an ad-supported service it displays too many ads in a way that takes away from the experience. Every time you load an image into a frame, an advertisement pops up. When completing frames with five photos or more, each one shoots up a new advertisement each time, forcing you to close out of numerous advertisements every time you use the app. Limiting the pop-up to once per image edit would have made the application far more useable. As far as free frame applications go, Pics 2 Frames does what it needs to and provides the customization that makes these apps useful. While the advertising takes away from the experience, those that use the app infrequently may still find that it's worth their time.
