Review: Repix is a neat photo editor, but it's more suitable for DIY users

Creatively edit and alter your photos with stunning effects and filters.

Repix's nifty drawing features are a welcome change from the options of standard filtering apps, but they're definitely not for everyone. Beginners should think twice before paying $6 for an app that comes with so many photo editing options as to be daunting. Those used to DIY photo editing, though, will find much to like about this powerful app.

Repix bucks the trend of photo-filtering apps that do most of the work for you. Instead of just applying a filter or overlay to your photos, it lets you customize in-depth the look and feel of your images by giving you a collection of brushes that add lens flare and other nice effects. This is in addition to the standard cropping, touching-up, and other basic editing features you'd expect from a photo editing app. Unfortunately there is no tutorial, and learning how to use this application properly might take some time. If you want to unlock all the custom brushes -- the app's most exciting feature -- you'll need to pay $6 for all sets, or $2 per set. That's not cheap, but it's definitely worth it for experienced photo editors.

Repix gives you more editing options than the casual smartphone or tablet user needs. For those with some experience, this powerful app has a lot to offer.
