Hypnotize for Mac provides a set of four basic preset shutdown timers for your computer. They're easy to set and can be canceled at any time with the click of a button. While functional, the program lacks any customization options directly in the app, which slightly limits its utility.
Instead of a full-blown interface, Hypnotize for Mac presents a sleek, graphics-driven menu showing four clock icons set at 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Once you choose a timer, a window opens with two buttons, one for restarting the timer, and the other for canceling. The window also displays the amount of time remaining in whole minutes. In our tests, each timer effectively shut down our computer at the right time. We would have appreciated the addition of a pop-up alert or other warning before shutdown, but as it is you'll have to keep your eye on the app's window to see how much time is left on the timer. If you find you do need to keep going, the timers can be restarted or canceled easily by clicking a button. While there's nothing technically wrong with Hypnotize for Mac, less-experienced users won't get as much from this tool. There are no options or settings on hand to change the preset times or add new timers. The publisher notes you can change the preset times in the Script Editor, but if you're a new user and don't know what that means, you're stuck with only four options.
Hypnotize for Mac gives you quick access to shutdown timers with a minimum of clicks. It looks good and performs well. If you're happy with the four options on offer, or don't mind doing some under-the-hood tinkering, this is a good way to make sure your computer doesn't stay up too much longer than you do.
