Review: Mac Media Player for Mac supports most media formats and great playback

Listen to music, view your photos, and watch movies in high quality using Mac Media Player for Mac.

As an all-in-one media solution, Mac Media Player for Mac offers outstanding performance, great looks, and top-notch audio and video playback quality. It enables high-definition of up to 1080p and supports DTS5.1 audio technology.

We downloaded Mac Media Player for Mac and were able to get started within minutes. It sports a clean, intuitive design, and offers some impressive integration with the Mac, providing the ability to easily access and display media that's been cataloged in other apps, like iTunes, iPhoto, and iMovie. Even though it works well for playing audio and viewing photos, this player's real strength is with video, and it can handle seemingly anything you can throw at it. We tested a variety of video formats including DVD, MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, and FLV. All played back smoothly, with responsive controls and HD resolution. In Preferences, the user can adjust settings for playback, video, audio, Blu-ray, and subtitles, as well as some general settings such as preferred language and player themes. By enabling AirX function in Tools, the user gets the ability to stream videos from their Mac on their mobile devices by opening airx.tv from mobile Safari on their iPad or iPhone. By default, apart from the standard playback controls, there is a social button that allows sharing directly on Facebook and Twitter.

Mac Media Player for Mac performs its main functions well and offers some cool additional options and settings. It would be an ideal app for someone who's tired of trying to figure what player works with which media, and just wants one, feature-packed player that can handle the majority of files.
