VirtualLab is a powerful data recovery tool from BinaryBiz. The VirtualLab Windows client recovers lost and deleted data, including e-mail messages and image files, and damaged and deleted partitions, including Mac partitions and optical disks. It even recovers RAID arrays. VirtualLab comes with an online account and full support, including a Live Chat option. The latest version of the VirtualLab client, v7.0, is compatible with Windows NT to 8. We tried the full version of VirtualLab. The free trial version contains all the controls, features, and processes of the registered tool, but it doesn't recover data. It does show whether your critical lost data is recoverable. If it is, VirtualLab can recover it. And when it does, its modest purchase price won't be an issue.
VirtualLab's client opens with its modular tool array displayed, starting with PC Partition Recovery and including Mac Partition Recovery, CD/DVD Recovery, and RAID Recovery. We started with a less drastic procedure -- Deleted File Recovery. The program's attractive, well-designed main interface opened on the File Undelete tab. We selected our C drive from a list of all our discs and then browsed a tree view to our Recycle Bin. We empty the Recycle Bin regularly, so we were curious to see what VirtualLab's scan turned up. The scan's color-coded, bitmap-style display showed where lost data lurked on our disk. Instead of recovering a single file, we had VirtualLab recover everything it could find. It scavenged and saved half a gigabyte of deleted data in a minute or so and moved it all, including folder structure, to a destination of our choice.
Anyone who has tried to recover deleted e-mail messages will appreciate this app's specialized Email Recovery tool; likewise the focused Image Recovery tool. And if you need to recover an entire lost partition or RAID array, its user-friendly process won't add to any stress you might be experiencing! Bottom line: Just how important was that data you deleted? If you really need to get it back, VirtualLab can help.
Editors' note: This is a review of the full version of VirtualLab 18.104.22.168. The trial version doesn't recover data.
