Review: Wattpad includes tons of books, but the quality of reads varies wildly

Read thousands of new books on your Android gadget provided by Wattpad.

As a large library, Wattpad makes it easy to find and read books, but only if you're into amateur authors. Most of the app's content is populated by its users, which means it's a mixed bag of hidden gems and stuff you're better off skipping. If you want to read something totally new and different, there aren't many better ways to do it, though.

The app offers thousands of new books, many of which you won't find anywhere else. You can log in to the app with your e-mail or sync with your Facebook account. If you do the latter, you'll be able to connect with friends to recommend books and see what they're reading. Either way, you'll be able to leave comments and talk to Wattpad's very active group of users. In some cases, you can even chat directly with the authors of the books. Since the app's content is mostly generated by amateur and unpublished authors, the quality varies greatly. Luckily, the app lets you pick your favorite genres so you can easily find stories that fit your interests. Turning pages isn't as smooth as it would be on an eReader, but you can change the font, page layout, and so many other parts of the app. You can't highlight or annotate your readings, though. However, since the app is all about recreational reading, you probably won't need to.

Wattpad introduces an exciting way to find and read books you wouldn't otherwise know about. If you're not afraid to run into a few duds to find some true gems, check out this app. If nothing else, it's a really fun way to connect with other readers.
