Review: What's the Logo tests your pop culture and brand knowledge

Try to guess the logo names in this hangman-style puzzler.

What's the Logo asks you to identify one of dozens of different logos at a time, within a hangman-style interface. The game is fairly limited, but it is fun to play for anyone that enjoys testing their pop culture knowledge, and the relatively loose format for game progression makes skipping logos very easy. The result is a fun, but ultimately forgettable app with only limited appeal for long-term play.

What's the Logo has a very basic design, low-resolution graphics, and a mechanic that is too familiar. Where it makes up for all of this is with the sheer volume of logos in its arsenal. With 50 logos to start and over 200 more that you can unlock later, there are quite a few to choose from, and the odds are that you won't know all of them. Even if you don't, the game provides hints to remove extra letters from the screen or fill in the blanks--but not nearly enough to skip any one group of puzzles. Logos are presented as is, so if you know them, you'll get the answer; if you don't, you won't. But that is half the fun.

If you enjoy guessing logos or matching wits with a word puzzle-style game, then What's the Logo is a good free download that you will enjoy for the first play through. It's not the prettiest app on the App Store, but it's loaded with content and does what it promises.
