Review: Tic Tac Dino Clash offers a digital interpretation of the chalkboard game

Play tic tac toe with dinosaur characters against the computer or your friends.

Tic Tac Dino Clash is exactly as it sounds--a dinosaur-themed version of tic tac toe, but where it could have enhanced the game it merely replicates it and the results are passable at best. The basic mechanics of the game are intact, but the menus, setup, and general interface are all messy and hard to navigate, while playing against the computer borders on pointless.

Most reading this know the goal of tic tac toe--match three in a row on a 3x3 grid. Tic Tac Dino Clash allows you to choose between playing a human or computer opponent, and you can then choose a dinosaur to represent you onscreen. From there, you can start playing, keeping track of the score and practicing your skills. It's best to play with a human opponent as the games played against the computer weren't very challenging. Repeatedly, the computer AI made poor decisions that resulted in our success, even when intentional mistakes were made. The biggest drawback of the app, however, is not AI so much as the poor interface and design that is hard to navigate and generally unresponsive.

Tic Tac Dino Clash feels like a half-finished game that lacks good single-player options, a streamlined interface, or any of the other things a decent game needs to be engaging past the first play. There are numerous other games, and tic tac toe-themed options to choose from on the App Store that are better than this app.
