Chikka Text Messenger failed to work

Don't bother with this faulty app.

Text messaging can add up very quickly, even if you have a plan through your phone service provider. For users in the Philippines, Chikka Text Messenger claims to offer free text messaging, but, sadly, we never made it past the Sign In page to find out how it performs.

To start, Chikka asks for access to your Contacts, which is typical of these types of apps. If you don't already have a Chikka account, you'll have to create one by using your Globe, Smart, or Sun mobile phone to register, or by entering your e-mail address. Because we didn't have one of the three aforementioned mobile phones, we used our e-mail address. We entered it and tapped Sign Up, only to receive a message stating that "An error has occurred. Please try again after a few minutes," which we did, without any luck. We were told after our second try that we had successfully signed up and to check our e-mail for verification, but the e-mail never appeared, not even in our Junk Mail folder. So, after all was said and done, we never made it past Chikka's Sign In page to find out what the app was all about.

If you're looking for a free way to text message your friends in the Philippines, we recommend you look for a more reliable app that actually works.
